CTA offers a suite of Maths ‘Booster Courses’ which focus on specific areas of the LC HL Maths syllabus and are designed for both 5th & 6th year students who want to get the best results in their Leaving Cert. HL Maths exam. Typically these courses are run over 6 weeks regularly throughout the year and enable the student to apply their skills to different context questions which account for half of the marks in Paper 1 and Paper 2. (NB: These are not revision courses, the subject matter is taught from scratch, no prior knowledge of the subject matter is required). – CTA LC English ‘Creative Writing’ Booster®:
– Intensive Pre-LC Course – English (HL) (8 week course: Class duration is 1hr:20mins – 1 class per week)
This course has been specially developed to awaken the imaginative powers of Leaving Cert. students. This is a must course for anyone wishing to enhance their writing skills and develop their creative processes in advance of sitting the Leaving Cert Higher Level English Papers, and is ideal for both 5th & 6th year students. It improves the writing skills required of students at that level and helps raise the standards of the students composition. The course exposes students to a variety of types, styles and forms of writing and provides them with opportunities to explore fiction, drama, poetry, playwriting, nonfiction, articles, essays, stories and blogging used at Leaving Cert level. Students also experiment with writing genres, literary theory, cultural contexts. Up to 12 students max per class, and the fee for this course is outlined in the Fee Schedule.
– CTA LC HL Lingua Revise Boosters®:

(Emphasis is on the complex grammatical structures REQUIRED for LEAVING CERT. Higher Level FRENCH!!). There are 2 separate courses, one for 5th year students and one for 6th year students.

This course is dedicated to a specific objective and/or competency: written/grammar. All students of LC Spanish can benefit from this intensive course. We use extensive notes, cover exam techniques, do practice exams and guide students through the grammar of the whole course. (Emphasis is on the complex grammatical structures REQUIRED for LEAVING CERT. Higher Level SPANISH!!). There are 2 separate courses, one for 5th year students and one for 6th year students.

This course is dedicated to a specific objective and/or competency: written/grammar. All students of LC Irish can benefit from this intensive course. We use extensive notes, cover exam techniques, do practice exams and guide students through the grammar of the whole course. (Emphasis is on the complex grammatical structures REQUIRED for LEAVING CERT. Higher Level IRISH!!). There are 2 separate courses, one for 5th year students and one for 6th year students.

– Intensive Easter Revision Course – Leaving Certificate Polish (2 week course: Class duration is 2hrs: per day over 10 days)
Polish is the second most spoken language in Ireland. However, as a non-curricular EU language, Polish does not appear as part of the normal school educational programme/ module. Thus, it is of great importance to support students in the process of preparing them for the Leaving Cert. exam in this subject! CTA is offering an Intensive Easter Revision course for students of Polish as a Leaving Certificate subject’ during the Easter break 2020. Students in the first or second year of the Leaving Certificate course are welcome to join. Classes are limited to up to 20 students max. and the fee for these courses is outlined in the Fee Schedule.
– Spanish as an extra subject for the Leaving Cert. 2021 (2 year programme)
Studying an extra subject for the Leaving Cert. offers students the opportunity to pursue a course of study not available in their own school. It also allows students to maximise their potential when it comes to CAO points. Our extra subjects cover the entire syllabus in two years and are suitable for both 5th and 6th year students looking to boost their performance in the Leaving Certificate. Extra subjects are scheduled for two evenings a week. Courses commence in September 2019 for the Leaving Certificate examinations in 2021. Classes are limited to up to 16 students max. and the fee for these courses is outlined in the Fee Schedule.
Language School:

– Afternoon Language classes (for Kids) (Beginners 1/2/3/4: 10 week courses – Class duration is 1hr: 1 class per week)
We offer language classes (French/German/Spanish/Polish) full of fun for children aged 5 to 12 years. Children have a natural ability to easily learn a foreign language. Research shows that children who learn a second language have a higher rate of success in their education and their subsequent adult careers. Speaking a foreign language provides children and students that competitive edge they will need for future college admission and job complement in our emerging global economy.
At CTA participants will enjoy while learning a foreign language in a friendly atmosphere where everyone can gain a new experience different from their daily activities. This way the children’s autonomy and personal development will be enhanced. These courses are designed to meet the creative learning needs of children. Games, songs, multimedia, and arts & crafts encourage children to develop their communication skills. This multicultural course includes teaching materials from Spain, France, Germany & Poland. The course fees are outlined in the Fee Schedule (up to 10 students max per class).

– Summer Language Programmes (Bootcamps) (for Junior Teens & Senior Cycle) (‘2 week’ camps – Class duration is 2hrs: 1 class per day over 10 days)
CTA offers French/German/Spanish/Polish language Bootcamps for junior teens (13yrs old) and senior cycle students (5th & 6th yrs) during the summer months! These camps provide junior learners with essential vocabulary and grammar needed to converse and interact around day-to-day topics through mediums such as videos, audios, articles and more and predominantly serve as an introduction to the language. For senior cycle students, the camps offer an opportunity to get a step ahead in the language prior to the school start in September. In class, there will be great emphasis on using the language as much as possible and students will be asked to do some written exercises based on the topics used in class.
These camps are classroom based and consist of a daily 2 hour session run over 2 weeks (10 days). Thecamp fee is outlined in the Fee Schedule (up to 12 students max per class). This year we are offering Bootcamps for 2 separate year groups in 3 language categories French, German & Spanish.
Levels:
Group 1: Junior Teens, 6th Class (approx. 13yrs old)
Group 2: 5th & 6th yr senior cycle (approx 16/17 yrs old)
– Understanding Basic Irish Sign Language: 8 Week ‘Taster’ Course (Beginners: 8 week course – Class duration is 1hr: 1 class per week)
Irish Sign Language (ISL) is the sign language used in Ireland (primarily in the Republic of Ireland). Irish Sign Language has nothing to do with the Irish language. CTA is now offering a course in Basic ISL. This course gives a concise overview of ISL, basic signs and instructions. The Student will also gain an understanding of the problems and barriers that people who have a hearing loss can experience. It will also outline basic strategies hearing people can use to communicate respectfully and effectively with deaf people.
These courses are classroom based. The courses consist of a weekly 1hr session run over 8 weeks in the evening time, usually 6:30pm-7:30pm. The course fee is outlined in the Fee Schedule (up to 12 students max per class)
– An Introduction to Irish Sign Language Accredited QQI/FETAC 3 (ISL1) course: –(Beginners: 15 week course – Class duration is 1hr:30mins: 1 class per week)
This accredited QQI/FETAC Level 3 course introduces the learners to ISL1 and delivers teaching to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The aim is to bring students to level A1 receptive skills and A1 productive skills to engage a basic conversation with Deaf people. This course also introduces some selected parts of Deaf Culture.
These courses are classroom based. The courses consist of weekly 1hr:30mins sessions run over 15 weeks, run in the evening time, usually from 7:30pm-9:00pm. The course fee is outlined in the Fee Schedule (up to 12 students max per class)
– English as a foreign language: Standard English Course + IELTS exam preparation (12 week course: Class duration is 2HRS, two evenings per week)
This Standard English course is perfect for intermediate level students who wish to improve their everyday English both written and spoken and focuses on practical communication skills with the emphasis on speaking, listening, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. Reading and writing activities provide the student with opportunities to interact with other students. Vocabulary, idioms and grammar are practised in interesting and stimulating ways to achieve fluency.
This class will also incorporate elements of the following points:
– linguistic skills improving pronunciation and building vocabulary
– active listening – concentrating on the necessary skills of note taking
– summarising information both oral and written
– social situations – relating to clients/colleagues socially, hosting receptions and discussing current topics.
For non-native speakers of English the IELTS test is the most effective and achievable way to gain access to UK and Irish university courses. The IELTS examination is a recognised measure of whether you are ready to study or train in the medium of English. It helps people improve job prospects or measure progress in English. In this course you will learn skills, techniques and methods to get the highest mark possible in your IELTS exam. The examination consists of four papers: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
CTA will help you to prepare and practise for this internationally recognised examination which benefits your academic studies and/or career. You will take a placement test on your first day to determine your class level. You will receive advice and guidance on the choice of appropriate examination for your level of English and your career objectives. You will complete sample examination papers under examination conditions to provide you with the best preparation possible.
At the end of your course, you will have the skills and knowledge to successfully complete each component of the IELTS examination. The course fee is outlined in the Fee Schedule (up to 16 students max per class).

CTA will be holding revision courses for exam students during the Easter & Christmas school holidays in the following subjects (Irish/English/Maths/Accounting/French/German/Spanish). As well as revising the syllabus, we will also look at the exam structure, marking schemes and time management. Classes are limited to 30 students max. and the fee for these courses is outlined in the Fee Schedule.
– Sunday Intensive Revision courses (1 Day Courses: 9:30am-4:30pm)
CTA will be holding Sunday revision courses for exam students from February to May 2019 in the following subjects: (French/Maths/Irish/Spanish/German/Accounting). As well as revising the syllabus, we will also look at the exam structure, marking schemes and time management. Classes are limited to up to 30 students max. and the fee for these courses is outlined in the Fee Schedule.
– Mock Oral Courses (+mock exam & feedback)- (half day Course)
CTA will provide Mock Oral Courses (to include a 4 hours expert tuition and a mock oral exam with feedback) for students leading up to the exams, during February/March each year. All Oral exams are conducted in the exact same fashion as the State Examinations for utmost preparation. These are individual sessions where students will receive feedback and a result post exam. Each exam will last about 15 minutes with a 5 to 10 minutes’ feedback session afterwards. Mock Oral examinations will be available for all students’ subject to availability in the following languages: French, Spanish, German, Irish, Polish. Classes are limited to up to 16 students max.The fee for these courses is outlined in the Fee Schedule.
– Leaving/Junior Cert. Supervised Weekend Study: (Feb-June: Saturdays & Sundays; 9am-6pm – 8 hours)
During the year, prior to the Leaving Cert, supervised study can help a student to maximise their potential. At CTA, supervised study is available during term time for students who are dedicated to their studies. Students participating in the Leaving Cert. ‘Supervised Study Programme’ at Clonmel Tuition Academy have the opportunity to study in a completely ‘distraction-free’ environment, in an atmosphere that is calm and focused on learning. We will not tolerate any form of misbehaviour and students must adhere to strict rules regarding their behaviour and conduct (please refer to CTA Attendance Policy & Code of conduct)
The weekend study programme for the 2019-2020 academic year commences, subject to demand, in February 2020 and runs every Saturday & Sunday until the last Sunday before the start of the Junior & Leaving Cert. exams 2020. Additional study sessions may be added as the year progresses, again subject to demand. A schedule of any additional supervised study sessions will be made available online. The programme fee is outlined in the Fee Schedule (Up to 50 students max per study session).
– Leaving/Junior Cert. Supervised Study – Christmas 2019-2020: (31st Dec – 10th Jan, Mon-Fri; 9am-6pm – 8 hours – 10 day programme)
At CTA, Supervised Study over the Christmas break 2018 will be available for students who are dedicated to their studies. Students participating in the Junior & Leaving Cert. ‘Supervised Study’ programmes at Clonmel Tuition Academy have the opportunity to study in a completely distraction-free environment, in an atmosphere that is calm and focused on learning. The Christmas study programme for 2019 commences, subject to demand, from 31st December and runs until 10th Jan 2019. – Leaving/Junior Cert. Supervised Study – Easter: (Mar 2020 – April 2020, Mon-Fri; 9am-6pm – 8 hours)

– Career Guidance & Educational Planning – Next Workshops June 2019 (for 3rd Year & TY) , 14th September 2019 (for 5th & 6th years)
CTA will run Career Guidance workshops throughout the year for 3rd /TY/5th & 6th Year students. These workshops aim to support young people in exploring their career options and making informed decisions about subject choices, higher education, alternative pathways and future employment.In line with the workshops, CTA also offers optional online psychometric profiling designed to identify abilities, aptitudes, personality traits, interests and values. This information provides students with a high degree of self-awareness and understanding which maximises an individual’s ability to make the right choices when making career decisions. All of the assessments can be completed in your own time, online, and are assessed by CTA Career Guidance experts prior to the workshops. The results will be made ready before the workshop, thus maximising the time spent at the workshop itself. The Fee for these workshops is outlined in the Fee schedule. – CTA Study Skills Seminar, 5th October 2019 – (1 Day Seminar: 9:30am-4:30pm, with 1hr for lunch)
The skills for learning are at the very core of the educational process. Telling a student to study hard without teaching them the best methods or techniques to use is fruitless. The goal of Study Skills seminars is to equip students with the skills and motivation to achieve optimum results through precise study techniques. The vital task of teaching students how to study and maximize their potential can slip by in today’s busy school schedule. If students learn how to study, their confidence soars and their school/college results can improve dramatically.
This one day intensive seminar covers a wide range of skills including motivation, goal setting, time management, exam performance, note taking and memory techniques. The seminar is designed to help second level students (and indeed anyone studying for exams) achieve their full potential, by improving their study and organisational techniques and their motivation to succeed. A little knowledge about wine is actually easy to build.At CTA the aim of the ‘Wine Appreciation Course’ is to help participants get to grips with what is on offer in the Irish wine market, and how to get the best from a bottle of wine.
