Clonmel Tuition Academy offers various ‘Language Booster Courses’ for students who are either starting their senior level studies (5^thYrs) or students starting the final year of Senior cycle (6^th Yrs). A motivating experience, the ‘Booster’ courses are designed to provide an opportunity for students looking to enrich their studies in a particular language subject ahead of either starting the senior cycle (and subsequently enhance their academic success for the Leaving Cert. in these subjects) or for 6th yr students looking for an ideal revision course prior to sitting their exams.

These Grammar Booster Courses are designed for students intending to take either French/Spanish/German/Irish to Leaving Cert level and sit the Leaving Cert exams in these subjects at Higher Level. Typically 5^th year students who feel they need to become more confident in the grammar of the language they are studying and 6^th year students wishing to strengthen their command of the language and revise core grammar areas required to maximise points for that subject in the Leaving Cert.

The grammar of any language is a challenge for many language learners, no matter the language. In our experience, the best way to overcome this challenge is to focus on all the most common key areas of the Grammar. The aim of these Intensive Grammar Booster Courses is for the student to systematically repeat, train and automatize the core grammar points required at Leaving Cert. Higher Level. Our Grammar Booster Courses are 8 weeks courses and run throughout the year and have only one aim: To get your grammar fit for the Leaving Cert. HL papers.

A typical Intensive Grammar Booster Course at LC level addresses a variety of grammatical and lexical terms, focusing on areas of the language that are required at higher level. The following are just some aspects of the language that will be covered:

– Identification of parts of speech
– Nouns
– Verbs
– The tense system
– Adjectives
– Adverbs

A variety of practical activities will help students identify the items listed above and link them to their use in everyday communication and also in various exam type questions whilst also focusing on core linguistic needs. Students will finish the course with a wealth of useful information and with resources to keep. Clonmel Tuition Academy currently offers the following Language Booster courses:

After you take a ‘Grammar Booster’ course at CTA, you should:

have a better understanding of the grammar of the language you are studying at Higher Level
be able to identify different parts of speech and understand how they are commonly used
be more confident going into your final exams

To take part in any of these courses you should already be comfortable with the fundamental concepts of the grammar of your chosen language and have already studied that language to Junior Cert. level (for 5^th year students); or have completed the first year of senior cycle for 6^th year students.

In 2018-2019, the CTA Language Booster courses will be held at our premises at 38 Gladstone street, Clonmel. The Booster courses run for 8 weeks. Each weekly class lasts 1hr:20mins. The course fee is €250. For Students wishing to book onto more than one of these courses there will be a 20% discount. There is also a sibling discount of 20%.

To secure your place on any of these courses a non-refundable deposit of €100 is required upon registration.

**All of our Grammar Booster Courses require a minimum of 10 registrants in order to take place. While we expect to reach this minimum in all courses, in the event that there are not enough participants registered by the Sunday evening before the first day of the course, we reserve the right to cancel the course and process a full refund of fees paid to the student/parent.

****Please be advised that whilst a ‘deposit paid’ secures your place onto a course, it does not guarantee admission to the course. In order to gain admission to any of our courses, fees need to be paid in full prior to the course start date. The reason for this is mainly because for many of our courses the full ‘book of notes’ for the entire course is handed out at the first lesson. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with regard to this. We reserve the right to refuse admission to any student who has not paid the course fees in full prior to the start date of the course (ie. the first lesson)
